Climate change is a vivid manifestation of how humans are naturally exploitative. A lot of things in the world have already been exploited by them and they continue to do so for their own benefit. They think the potentiality of the resources around them are too great and that is why they try as much as they can to extract all potential benefits they could possibly get from it. However, there are times when humans tend to push the limits too much. They seem to be always curious about how far things can go. They want to be able to measure the extents of things and gain more and more benefits from it as much as possible.

In relation to this, there are clear signs regarding how humans are exploiting the environment just for the sake of development. They think that progress is a higher value than environmental preservation without even realizing that the preservation of the environment is tantamount to preserving our own lives. Businesses and companies continue to break down forests for more buildings and establishments just so they could make another commercial area. These forests contain millions of trees and plants that supposedly provide oxygen to the environment. They can also be used as raw materials for making necessary things such as paper or construction materials. A lot of companies still engage in illegal logging despite the fact that environmental laws exist. They still produce so much carbon emissions that threaten the survival of the earth because it makes the world’s temperature rise to a massively high level. The ozone layer is what is protecting us from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Having carbon emissions gradually destroys this layer of protection that we have and therefore, the sun’s rays are slowly penetrating the earth at a dangerous level. Plants and trees are supposed to address this particular problem. They are supposed to suck up the carbon emissions around us for they need it for producing their own food. However, because we constantly break down forests, where trees and plants live, we also lessen the chances for the problem to be addressed. We are constantly killing the agents that are responsible for sucking up the carbon emissions that we have in order to make the world a safe place to live in. Moreover, we are also killing the agents responsible for making us breathe and live everyday of our lives. Plants and trees release oxygen in the process of making food. Oxygen is what we need in order to breathe properly and survive. So by exploiting the environment, we are also slowly killing the producers of the element that makes us live. So essentially, the value of progress is self-defeating. We might be progressing but we are also lessening our chances of survival. Progress is supposed to benefit the people. But in the end, most likely no one is going to benefit from it because we’d all probably be dead.

It’s about time that we learned the value of environmental preservation. Let’s save the world from further destruction so that it remains to be a safe place for everyone.

Climate change is really an imminent threat to the entire world. A lot of studies have already supported the idea that the so-called Judgment Day will be brought about by climate change. In fact, there are movies being made in status quo about how the world is going to end because of too much environmental damage. There are also documentaries and discussions such as The Inconvenient Truth that suggest that the world is becoming a dangerous place to live in due to climate change.

If you do not have any idea about climate change yet, then perhaps you are not the type of person who cares about news or current events. A lot of countries are already gathering in a convention to talk about how to combat climate change. They make industrialized countries commit to climate change commitments and other environmental policies just so they could reduce the danger it brings. But for you to have an idea about climate change, it is the phenomenon where the world’s temperature increases in an immense magnitude due to carbon emissions produced by human activities. This makes the world a lot hotter everyday and that is why some people came up with the conclusion that the world is going to explode at some point in the future if the temperature continues to rise.

If you take a look at several disasters that struck the world with fear, they can be attributed to climate change. Natural disasters like tsunamis and strong storms are likely to occur because the world’s increasing temperature. Some glaciers are already melting contributing to rising sea levels, which is more likely going to cause tsunamis. Storms are becoming imminent due to the increased evaporation rate due to so much heat, making the process of precipitation occur faster than normal. Ecosystems and forests are devastated because of too much heat making animals and wildlife species suffer. There are a lot of tangible manifestations of the effects of climate change. The world is becoming hotter everyday and perhaps the prediction of world explosion is really about to come true.

As citizens of the world, we should not be apathetic to what is happening around us. This phenomenon is about to kill us all, yet we are still doing things which continue to make the situation worse. Companies and factories still have a lot of carbon emissions that destroy the ozone layer and make us more vulnerable to the heat of the sun. The industries of developed nations are still emitting too much carbon and thus, contribute more to the worsening of climate change. Given the alarming situation, we cannot remain irresponsible and apathetic anymore. We have to care about the environment. We have to care about the world we live in. There have been no discoveries yet about the viability of other planets for human life. So far, the Earth is our only refuge. Destroying it is tantamount to destroying our own security and our own safety. We might be developing because of our industries but we are sacrificing our own future with what we are doing.
